The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Sexuality, AIDS, and Society (CIISSS) aims to coordinate and promote research, training, and collaborative interaction with academic groups, technical cooperation, and civil society at the local, regional, and global levels in sexual health and HIV/AIDS from health, sociocultural, and human rights perspectives, with an interdisciplinary approach, to contribute to improving the evidence base that guides public policy on these issues within and outside the country; and to contribute to the institutional strengthening of the university through the consolidation of its recognized expertise in these areas and its capacity to formulate, implement, and manage research.
The CIISSS aims to establish a national, regional, and global reference point for interdisciplinary research on HIV/AIDS, sexuality, and sexual health, considering health, sociocultural, and human rights perspectives, which articulates first-rate research, contributes to strengthening institutional capacity to develop research, offers technical support if requested, contributes to the training of new researchers within and outside the country, and contributes to the debate on evidence-based public policies in Peru and in the international context.
