Organization profile

The Center for Environmental Sustainability (CSA) is a hybrid research-action center that complements academic efforts with training and the implementation of pilot actions that can be replicated or amplified as possible solutions to environmental problems at the national level. It was created to strengthen and guide the joint work of the university with the government, civil society, and industry through interdisciplinary work. It acts as a source of technical information for decision-making processes, prioritizing the application of an ecosystem approach to the sustainable management and use of ecosystems and natural resources. It focuses its activities on the study of the ecology, health, and conservation status of marine ecosystems, with special emphasis on top marine predators. In addition, it has a strong focus on the impacts of fisheries, renewable resource use, urbanization, climate change, and pollution on marine and coastal ecosystems.
