The Aging and Frailty Research Group investigates the health status of older adults as they age, identifies older adults with sarcopenia, and assesses frailty at the community level, in outpatient clinics, and in hospitals. It also investigates the importance of assessing walking speed at the community level in coastal, mountain, and jungle areas as a predictor of adverse events in order to carry out intervention studies at the regional and national levels.
Its importance lies in the fact that identifying sarcopenia, frailty, and slow walking speed in older adults allows for early interventions to improve their functionality and thus prevent adverse events such as morbidity and mortality, falls, and hospitalization.
