The Socio-Ecological Systems Research Group carries out various projects focused on studying the relationship between humans and nature, both in urban and non-urban areas. The research seeks to understand how different threats to biodiversity (land use change, climate change, overexploitation of resources, pollution, etc.) affect ecosystem, environmental, and human health. The EcoSocial Hub also provides services specializing in technical and scientific analysis of government and corporate development, management, social responsibility, environmental, and sustainability plans to generate potential solutions to their problems. The EcoSocial Hub is a member of Clima, the Latin American Center of Excellence on Climate Change and Health. In addition, it seeks to be a link between academia, the private sector, and the government through the connection of scientific research with companies and authorities. Its importance is based on the fact that conducting research in the fields of EcoHealth and Urban Ecology science has a systemic approach that allows for the integration of different disciplines in the search for comprehensive answers to specific problems affecting the environment and people. This vision and understanding of inhabited and uninhabited landscapes is important in order to describe and understand in depth the impacts of global changes (climate change, loss of biodiversity, etc.) in Peru. This analysis allows us to propose effective strategies to address these changes. In addition to the value of this research in charting a roadmap to address these changes, there are actions that facilitate collaboration with the public and private sectors to turn these theoretical solutions into practice, with a view to promoting sustainable development in the country.
