The International Center of Excellence in Malaria – Emerging Diseases Laboratory carries out the following research at its Lima and Iquitos sites: - Epidemiological surveillance of malaria to assess the dynamics of residual malaria transmission in hot spots in the Peruvian Amazon. - Studies of the behavior of the malaria vector Nyssorhynchus darlingi in its natural environment, identifying its habits/biting preferences. - Epidemiological-entomological and environmental integration studies. - Studies using remote sensing tools such as drones to characterize the habitats of malaria vectors. - Evaluate the contribution of imported malaria and the role of human mobility in the transmission of P. vivax, using whole genome sequencing of the parasite.
