Organization profile

The Bacteriology Laboratory conducts tests to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of various textile products, chemical substances, and the active ingredients of different plants, such as plant extracts, nanoparticles, and lactic acid bacteria, among others. In addition, it works with isolates from the Enterobacteriaceae family from meat products to phenotypically determine the acquisition of antibiotic resistance genes. In the field of lactic acid bacteria, isolates are evaluated as potential organisms of biotechnological importance as candidates for probiotics or food biopreservatives. Likewise, water and food quality control analyses are performed. Microbial confrontations with disinfection and sterilization systems. We provide advice on high school, bachelor's, and master's theses related to bacteriology. For 30 years, we have been isolating, identifying, and testing standard and isolated bacteria against different substances (plants, antibiotics, or other chemicals such as disinfectants), advising high school, undergraduate, and doctoral thesis students and professionals from our university and others. This has allowed us to meet the needs of the professional community, who are looking for a place to test their hypotheses, conduct research, and find out how their products behave with bacteria.
