Organization profile

The Oral Health Biochemistry Laboratory is where research, experiments, practical work, guidelines, and scientific, educational, and innovative work related to oral health and its biochemical reactions are carried out. The main focus of the laboratory is the control and monitoring of fluoride concentrations in different products available to the population in order to make a situational diagnosis of the population's exposure to fluoride. Monitoring these concentrations is essential to improve understanding and decision-making in public dental health. Among the activities carried out by the laboratory, research protocols have been designed to evaluate fluoride concentrations and pH in bottled water, soft drinks, dairy products, and other products intended for consumption by populations at risk of dental fluorosis (children aged 0 to 6 years).
