Laboratory of Oxygen Transport Physiology and Altitude Adaptation|Altitude Acclimatization and Adaptation Unit

Organization profile

Organization profile

The Laboratory of Oxygen Transport Physiology and Altitude Adaptation / Altitude Acclimatization and Adaptation Unit-IIA focuses on the physiological and pathophysiological responses of oxygen transport systems to acute and chronic hypoxia in humans under conditions of rest and physical exercise. Over the years, the laboratory's research has addressed everything from cellular adaptive mechanisms to the epidemiology of high-altitude diseases in Andean populations. Thus, they have contributed to elucidating the various components and responses that occur as common denominators of life at altitude, whether related to acclimatization or adaptation of various high-Andean species.
