Organization profile

The Animal Reproduction Laboratory conducts research into the reproductive physiology of different productive species such as cattle, South American camelids, and fish, with the aim of establishing scientific references for the development of reproductive biotechnology, as well as generating information on the species. It also focuses on the use of diagnostic techniques to provide alternative solutions to reproductive problems, such as ultrasound for sexing paiche, or evaluation of sperm quality and sper s in breeding guinea pigs. Similarly, they are interested in studying the reproductive efficiency of dairy cattle in relation to functional genomics studies. In addition, they offer ultrasound services to the public, vaginal cytology in dogs, reproductive hormone testing, and evaluation of fresh and frozen semen in different species. The area of animal reproduction is of utmost importance in veterinary science because it studies one of the factors that affect the productive performance of species such as cattle, sheep, pigs, guinea pigs, and camelids. It is also related to reproductive pathology that may occur in canine, equine, and wild animal patients.
