The Wildlife Laboratory is currently participating in three conservation projects with endangered species of Peruvian wildlife. In Puno, since 2010, we have been working with the Titicaca giant frog Telmatobius culeus, following the conservation strategy that was developed that year with the help of the IUCN and the Denver Zoological Foundation. Similarly, in 2013, a similar document was developed in Junín for the Junín giant frog Telmatobius macrostomus, and in 2018 we officially launched a conservation project for the species, following the recommendations in that document. The latest project is in Lima with the huaca gecko Phyllodactylus sentosus, where the LVS is responsible for the captive component of the project led by the Biodiversity Studies Laboratory of the UPCH Faculty of Sciences.
