The Intercultural Citizenship and Indigenous Health Unit (UCISI) encourages interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, critical, and intersectional research, and we promote participatory interventions with sociocultural relevance and environmental sustainability. We take a comprehensive approach to the availability, access, acceptability, and quality of health services and food systems, from the perspective of social, environmental, and cultural determinants. The unit generates relevant knowledge for decision-makers at the local, national, and global levels, promoting the recognition and use of the knowledge and science of our Indigenous peoples to reduce health inequalities, promote intercultural citizenship, and achieve health justice. We also develop consulting services and teaching activities in interculturality, Indigenous health, social epidemiology, and medical anthropology.
