Organization profile

The Dermatology Unit of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine works in conjunction with the Dermatology Service of the Cayetano Heredia Hospital to carry out various observational and descriptive studies and clinical trials on dermatological pathologies, dermatopathology, and dermatological manifestations of infectious diseases in order to generate evidence to improve care for patients with dermatological diseases. The research unit seeks to promote scientific studies, recognizing the incidence and prevalence of infectious dermatoses and their behavior in patients and the community. It also implements protocols to optimize the isolation and classification of infectious agents related to the skin. The unit has a staff of dermatology specialists, dermatology residents, and undergraduate and graduate thesis students.
