Organization profile

The Molecular Epidemiology Unit is dedicated to research, teaching, and care of infectious diseases within the field of molecular biology. The main procedures performed are based on the amplification and analysis of genetic material from pathogens and hosts, such as PCR, RT-qPCR, molecular markers (microsatellites and SNPs), sequencing, and data analysis via bioinformatics tools. The objective of the Unit is to promote and develop Molecular Epidemiology as a tool for surveillance and molecular research into diseases relevant to each research group.
