The Research Unit on Comprehensive Development, Environment, and Health (UDIAS) carries out environmental health interventions in vulnerable regions of the country (Cajamarca, Puno, Cusco, Puerto Maldonado) with the aim of creating environments conducive to disease prevention and maintaining health and well-being. The randomized trials that UDIAS has worked on to date focus on providing household-level interventions with the aim of reducing the risk of disease in children under five and older adults. We focus on interventions that reduce indoor air pollution through the implementation of clean cooking technologies and interventions that improve water quality, sanitation, and hygiene.
