The Unit's research topics include gender-based violence against women, masculinities and violence, sexual and reproductive rights, maternal mortality, gender, and public policy. Since 2005, it has published the journal Reproductive Health Matters in Spanish/Temas de Salud Reproductiva, which is distributed in 20 Latin American countries. In recent years, it has gained recognition for its specialized work in the field of studying and preventing gender-based violence against women and has succeeded in influencing the incorporation of work with men in public policies related to gender-based violence.
