Senior Professor at Cayetano Heredia University (UPCH). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from UPCH and his PhD in Biology from Brandeis University (Massachusetts, USA). His academic and scientific career is well-known both within and outside the country. His leadership in the scientific field is based not only on his solid training but also on his recognized commitment and dedication to science. Among his many achievements, he led the design and construction of the renowned Research and Development Laboratory of the Faculty of Sciences and Philosophy (LID), of which he has been Director since its creation in 1995. He has received numerous honors, including election as a full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Peru and the Latin American Academy of Sciences. He conducts research projects funded by various prestigious national and international organizations that serve not only to generate knowledge but also to train new researchers. He has over 60 publications in indexed journals, among which his contributions to the evolution of passive immunity and the response to measles vaccination stand out, as well as his various studies on plants used in traditional Peruvian medicine aimed at discovering new therapeutic agents derived from our biodiversity.
