A medical surgeon with a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. For the past sixteen years, he has been conducting research on sexual health and human rights among historically marginalized populations in Peru, particularly transgender people, sex workers, and migrants. He has provided technical assistance for surveillance studies involving key populations at risk for HIV in Uruguay, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Paraguay, and has served as a consultant for institutions such as UNAIDS, PAHO, USAID, and UNODC, among others. Over the past four years, he has complemented his work in public health with independent journalism, following the completion of a program at the University of Toronto. He has published in outlets such as El País (Spain), the Toronto Star (Canada), and Revista Anfibia (Argentina), among other international and local media outlets.
