Dr. Armando Valdés Velásquez is a biologist from the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University (UPCH), where he currently serves as a senior lecturer and researcher. He leads the Socio-Ecological Systems Research Group at the same university and, concurrently, serves as a senior advisor at the Wyss Academy for Nature at the University of Bern. Previously, he worked as a consultant for Foundations of Success, supporting nature conservation organizations and projects in planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning. He has also led and participated in capacity-building initiatives aimed at diverse audiences, ranging from university students to decision-makers, in collaboration with institutions such as the Organization for Tropical Studies.

His current work focuses on understanding and improving the relationship between humans and nature, addressing issues such as biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, and territorial governance. In addition, he advises various institutions on planning conservation actions, designing and evaluating projects, and building capacity in applied research.

Dr. Valdés has published in specialized scientific journals and has collaborated with national and international institutions on issues of sustainability, environmental management, and evidence-based public policy.
