Infectious disease physician dedicated to teaching and research. I trained in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, followed by training in Clinical Research at the International Centre for Diarrheal Diseases in Bangladesh. I work as a professor of Medicine at the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, where I am currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine. In research, I have worked on cholera, shigellosis, nosocomial infections, HIV/AIDS, skin and soft tissue infections, traveler infections, antimicrobial resistance, S. aureus bacteremia, and more recently, tuberculosis, where I serve as Director of the Tuberculosis Research Unit at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine. I am a member of two Data Safety Monitoring Boards at the National Institutes of Health in the United States, where I review HIV studies. I have been a thesis advisor for bachelor's degrees on various topics.
