A medical surgeon with postgraduate degrees in Epidemiology and Disease Control (MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; PhD from Johns Hopkins University), specializing in infectious disease control and global health. He is an associate professor and researcher at Cayetano Heredia University in Peru. His current research focuses on diagnostic innovation using Artificial Intelligence (AI), leading projects on acoustic analysis of coughs for screening for tuberculosis and COVID-19. He has extensive experience in the clinical validation of rapid diagnostic technologies and molecular platforms in high-burden settings. His areas of expertise include TB, HIV/AIDS, Bartonellosis, and research ethics. He has served as a consultant for international organizations and has an outstanding track record as a graduate-level instructor in research methods in Peru and abroad (the U.S. and the U.K.).
