Dr. Dimitri Gutiérrez is a specialist at IMARPE's General Directorate of Oceanography and Climate Change Research and coordinator of the Master's Degree in Marine Sciences at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University. Dr. Gutiérrez has led several IMARPE projects with international cooperation, such as the CENSOR project (FP5, European Union, Alfred Wegener Institute) and the DISCOH (Dynamics of the Humboldt Current System) International Joint Laboratory between IMARPE and IRD (France). In terms of the link between research and academic training, Dr. Gutiérrez has been the principal investigator of the CONCYTEC Chair in Marine Sciences, based on a strategic alliance between the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, IMARPE, and other institutions. In relation to the scientific subject of his specialty, Dr. Gutiérrez is a researcher of the relationship between redox biogeochemical processes and communities in the benthic system (Gutiérrez et al., 2008), as well as the relationship between past climate scenarios, recent trends, and the dynamics of the ZMO and productivity off the coast of Peru (Gutiérrez et al., 2009, 2011, 2016).
