Assistant Professor, Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University (UPCH). Director of the Membrane Biochemistry and Biophysics Laboratory and co-Director of the Molecular Neurobiology and Genetics Laboratory (Research and Development Laboratories, UPCH). He has a basic academic background in biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. He has taken continuing education courses at the International Center for Theoretical Physics (Italy) in the area of neuroscience, and has completed research internships in the area of biological membrane biochemistry at the National University of Rosario (Argentina). He has collaborated in the structuring and participates in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of neurobiology, neurochemistry, and membrane biology at UPCH. He has collaborated on a series of research projects in the area of the biology of mental disorders and the promotion of research in this area. In addition, he has been collaborating in international efforts to study human genetic variation (1000 Genomes Project, www.1000genomes.org) and the genetics of miscegenation in Latin America (CANDELA Project, IP: A. Ruiz-Linares, University College London, www.ucl.ac.uk/candela), the genetics of early-onset dementia (PI: M. Grossman/K. Rascovsky, University of Pennsylvania), and the genetics of schizophrenia (PI: G. de Erausquin, University of South Florida). He recently had the opportunity to lead a research and development project for Peru's agricultural industry, using his expertise in the area of molecular interaction, with promising results. He has extensive experience in analytical methods, including the analysis of toxic substances and drug monitoring. He has been a consultant for the pharmaceutical industry, the food industry, and in the area of clinical biochemistry.
