Graduated as a biologist from the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco. Received his Doctor of Science degree and is an associate professor/researcher at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University. Over the years, her research has focused on infectious and tropical diseases such as leptospirosis, brucellosis, tuberculosis, and cysticercosis. She completed a five-year training program as a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the Vaccine Branch, National Cancer Institute, NIH Bethesda, Maryland, USA. His research focused on evaluating the efficacy of HIV vaccines using adenoviral vectors that express SIV (simian immunodeficiency virus) proteins and are administered to macaques, animal models for HIV vaccines. After exploring the cellular and humoral response induced by the recombinant adenovirus, both systemically and in the mucous membranes, it was determined that, for the development of vaccines against HIV, which is transmitted mainly through the mucosal epithelium, it is crucial to induce mucosal immunity at the site of infection to provide effective protection to the host. Likewise, this response can be modulated by factors such as the sex of the host, microbiome, etc., and must be explored in the evaluation of vaccine effectiveness. This experience has allowed him to author numerous publications in indexed scientific journals. Currently, he is the head of the Laboratory of Immunobiology of Infections (LID-UPCH).
