Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Global Disease Control from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (U.S.). Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Cayetano Heredia University. Pharmaceutical Chemist and Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the National University of San Marcos. She is currently a professor and researcher at Cayetano Heredia University, specializing in the study of infectious diseases and those that impact children’s health. She began her scientific career in the Cysticercosis Working Group in Peru (CWGP). Her doctoral thesis addressed infection by Taenia solium, a topic that is under-explored but of great relevance, given that this parasite is the leading cause of epilepsy in adults in developing countries such as Peru. Subsequently, she has led and participated in research on pneumonia, diarrhea, antimicrobial resistance, and congenital infections, with an emphasis on their consequences for children’s health. She also collaborates on initiatives aimed at developing national technology for the production of bioproducts in Peru. She directs the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at the Research and Development Laboratories of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and is a senior researcher at the Center for Biomedical Training and Research in the Amazon (CEIBA-Cayetano). She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific articles in specialized journals, having established a distinguished academic and research career in the field of public health and infectious diseases.
