Abstract

Discriminant functions oithe MMP: and the hlChdi-I1 were compared in a sample of 156 hospxalized psychiatric patients with discharge diagnoses of affective disorder (63j, schizophrecia $6), substance abuse (351, and other disorders (421. Of special interest. was :he comparative diagnostic uti!ity of the :wo iastrxnents in regards to DSM-111-R Axis I diagncses. Borh tests performed reasonabiy weli in :he discriminan: fdnction anaiyses; however, the MCMI-I1 achieved a somewhat superior overali hi: rate with this sample of inpatienrs (79% tt3 68%). This difference was :ie? tc greater accuracy of the MCM-II for iderdyinrg the affective disorders group.
