Secretory Immunoglobulin A Against Type-III Secretion System Proteins of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Human Colostrum

Abstract

We determined secretory Immunoglobulin A (sIgA) against type-III secretion system proteins (ExoS, ExoT, PopB and PopB) of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in colostrum of 150 Peruvian women using Western blot. We found 142 (94.7%) samples with at least one sIgA. The presence of sIgA against all 4 proteins was the most common profile (43%). These antibodies may protect newborns from P. aeruginosa infections.
