Resumen
The Taenia family of tapeworms including T. solium, T. saginata, and T. asiatica can cause infectious taeniasis leading to the development of the adult tapeworm in the intestine. Additionally, larvae of T. solium can enter the body through fecal oral contamination of food and water causing human cysticercosis, a disease with severe impact in endemic, impoverished regions. This chapter will cover public health concerns, epidemiologic distribution and prevalence, diagnostic and treatment techniques, and potential solutions for control and eradication.
